A state level consultation on "MGNREGA in Uttar Pradesh: Challenges, Potential and Way Forward" was organized by the National Consortium on MGNREGA in Lucknow between 8th and 9th of March 2011. The aim of the consultation was to bring together officials of the state and central governments along with representatives of civil society in UP working on MGNREGA to discuss the potential and problems of MGNREGA in the state and to arrive at a road map for MGNREGA reform within the state. The 3rd Annual Meeting of the Consortium was held during 13-14 October, 2009 in New Delhi. On the 13th the meeting was held at the Sri Aurobindo Society Auditorium. On the 14th, the meeting continued at Gulmohar, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. Both days saw presentations led by different consortium members on a wide variety of themes and issues relating to NREGA. The presentations were followed by very rich discussions on the themes. On the 14th, the First Annual Report was released to the nation in a special function by Dr. C.P. Joshi, Minister for Rural Development, GoI. Shri Nandan Nilekani, Chairperson, Unique Identification Authority of India, was the Guest of Honour. Participants had the opportunity to interact with Dr. Joshi and Shri Nilekani on a host of issues relating to NREGA and the UID

Andhra Partners enter into MoU with GoAP
An MOU has been signed by the Commissioner, Rural Development and Civil Society Organisations and networks to ensure effective implementation of the Act in the selected mandals/villages. The MOU covers almost 1/3 of the total mandals in the state.

Aarthik Anusandhan Kendra to partner GoUP in a major plantation drive under NREGA
Consortium partner Aarthik Anusandhan Kendra (UP) has been assigned the responsibility for monitoring, training and mobilization of NREGS workers and other functionaries involved in blocks of Mirzapur and Sonebhadra districts of UP as part of a Govt. of UP plan to plant 55 million plants across 11 districts of the state.

CEO, Zila Panchayat, Jashpur, initiates discussions with Samaj Pragati Sahayog for help in preparing action plans for all blocks of Jashpur district.
The CEO of the Zila Panchayat, Jashpur, Chhattisgarh, has written to SPS opening up possibilities of collaboration between the Zila Panchayat and SPS for preparation of NRM-centred action plans under NREGA for all blocks of the district. This follows action plans prepared for selected panchayats in Pathalgaon Block of Jashpur district by SPS and consortium partner Lokshakti Samiti, Raigarh, at the specific request of the MoRD, GoI, as part of a pilot project in 2007-08.
